The WGA writer’s strike had an adverse impact on this season of the ‘Heroes’ as only eleven of the twenty four originally planned episodes got made. These eleven episodes were aired on Mondays at 9:00 pm in the US, with the first episode commencing on September 24, 2007. This season was titled “Generations” representing the second volume of the series.

This season ended on December 3, 2007. Four months have passed since the Kirby Plaza incidents when this season commences. This volume primarily pertains to the activities of the “Company” and the research that it is carrying out on the Shanti virus. Many details of the research being undertaken are revealed over the course of this series, including the Company’s founders along with their actual identities, as well as the different impacts that diverse strains of the virus would have. It is at this critical juncture that the “Heroes” unite in order to prevent the release of a deadly strain of the virus that could potentially cause immense havoc and destruction on a global scale.

As a matter of fact, this season was to originally comprise of three volumes, but the writer’s strike forced the producers to cut short the season to only one volume, the “Generations”. Volume three was intended to be named “Exodus” while volume four was to be referred to as “Villains”. The strike compelled the producers to push “Villains” to Season three, with “Exodus” ending up getting scrapped altogether. As a result, select portions of the finale, “Powerless” of season two were shot all over again, to compensate for “Exodus’” cancelation as well as to string together the loose elements of “Generations”.
